This section is for recent (within the last two years) and soon-to-be college graduates who are interested in applying for jobs with Cambridge Computer. If you are a skilled applicant with over two years of professional work experience, please see our Experienced Professionals section.
Cambridge Computer is a unique company with a unique approach to recruiting and
career development. Our environment and the opportunities we offer appeal to most of our college recruits, but we are not right for everyone. The information contained herein should give you a clearer sense of what we are offering and how it is different from the majority of standard, big company positions you are used to seeing.
If it sounds like a fit for you, we invite you to apply. Even if we do not sound right for you, you might want to check out this site anyway; it’s reasonably entertaining and contains a lot of career advice and interviewing tips.
We recommend that you navigate through the pages in the order we've listed them. We've arranged these sections carefully in order to decrease mistakes and confusion.
Our Goals
- Attract the right candidates to apply for jobs in our company and scare away the rest
- Hire the best-suited candidates
- Have them come work for us with a great attitude, a broad perspective, and the right expectations
- Teach them our business methodologies and technologies
- Invest in their careers so that they grow into well-rounded, high-powered consultants or members of our management team
Your Goal
Presumably, your goal is to get your career off to the right start. Many of you may not know what exactly you want to do, which is OK as long as you settle into a work environment that lets you explore a little. That's us.
Others of you have a good idea of what that might entail and, hopefully, you will see our company as a vehicle for getting there. Some of you might know exactly what you want--to rule the world, feed the poor, be a rock star, whatever! If you happen to want to work for a small, entrepreneurial company in the fast-growing data-storage industry, read on.
The Challenges
The only thing more daunting than starting off on a new career is figuring out how to staff a growing company! Whereas the individual has to figure out his/her own needs, the company has to strategize based on the needs of multiple individuals as well as those of the company.
Bringing recent grads into the company is a double-edged sword. On one hand, we get enthusiasm, optimism, and an eagerness to learn. On the other, we get uncertainty, immaturity, and occasionally some really annoying egoism. We are committed to our challenge, but we need to make sure that you, the candidate, understand and accept yours before we bring you on board.
Your challenge is to come into a less than structured environment and to allow your natural curiosity and discipline to drive your learning, to build confidence in your own abilities, and to master the art of maximizing personal growth while contributing to a team.
