Many organizations have a large staff of operators who are responsible for carrying out very specific tasks in the daily operations of the backup system. These users can benefit greatly from training, but do not generally need the in-depth theory and detailed administrative information provided in courses designed for systems administrators.

Cambridge Computer offers backup system operators' training geared specifically for this type of user. We offer versions for the major backup software packages, including Veritas Backup Exec, Legato NetWorker and CommVault Galaxy. These classes are generally shorter than our administrator classes and focus on day-to-day operations, including:

• Swapping and rotating tapes
• Verifying that backups completed successfully
• Restarting failed or hung backups
• Performing manual backups or recoveries
• Inventorying autochangers and jukeboxes
• Troubleshooting common errors

We offer operators' courses as a standard part of many of our backup system installation packages, but these classes are also available à la carte. We can teach your operators in our Waltham Training Center or at your location, and the classes can easily be customized for your specific environment. In addition to the training classes, we can also provide system documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to aid operators in their daily tasks.
