Cambridge Computer offers a number of solutions of particular interest
to those involved with digital video production, capture, and storage.
Many of our clients produce and edit video digitally. Others are
in the business of providing video monitoring for security purposes.
Regardless of the exact application, digital video offers some interesting
storage challenges.
Raw Performance
For applications such as HDTV video editing and large-scale digital
video surveillance, you simply need raw speed. In some cases you
can achieve suitable performance with expensive disk arrays, high-end
NAS servers, or solid state storage devices, but you might also
achieve this by aggregating inexpensive RAID devices with the appropriate
RAID technology or management software.
High Performance File Sharing
File system I/O is often the final bottleneck in video editing and
image capture applications. Using the latest parallel file system
technology, Cambridge Computer can design file sharing systems that
can deliver linear scalability both in performance and capacity.
Video Archiving
Video archives are different from other archives in that stored
files tend to be very large and, once data has been retrieved from
the archive, it must be accessible at very high speeds. We solve
this problem in a number of ways, either by combining high speed
file sharing solutions with back end archiving solutions, or simply
by storing all archival data on relatively high performance media
such as spinning disk or SAIT tape.
